Warwickshire County Council - Hartshill Hayes Country Park

Coventry Canal at Hartshill Hayes Country Park

Hartshill Hayes Country Park is a great place to start a number of trails and explore important semi-ancient woodland, in a wonderfully tranquil corner of northern Warwickshire. Stride out from here across fairly steep hills and you’ll be rewarded with superb views – on a clear day you can look out over Warwickshire, Leicestershire and Staffordshire. This stile-free walk includes a section along the Coventry Canal and, no doubt, you will see some narrowboats.

There’s a colour leaflet with full route description for this and other walks around and out from Hartshill Hayes Country Park. Click ‘Download Trail here’ at the bottom of the page to order your detailed trail guide, before setting out.

General overview of route:

1. From the main car park go through the green gate and follow the path across the meadow, bearing right and through the woods. Cross a small bridge and into fields.

2. The path continues through fields, then uphill, and down into the Anker Valley. The route carries through a farmyard and along a lane to the Coventry Canal.

3. Walk the towpath for a mile, and then follow the route through fields into Hartshill Green village where there are pubs just off the main trail.

4. The final stretch is a pleasant stroll back through the woodland, crossing streams, and returning to the car park.
